New Westminster Fraser Book
My frustration continues first the printer had a fire in the electrical room and got me 25 books last Friday. The 1000 books owed are at the bindery where there has been a problem and 100 were to be ready today. Now I must wait till Tuesday for the full order as the 100 were cancelled today incorectly. I am to receive a discount but that does not get me the books to say the least I am upset.

Monday is D- Day
Monday April 19th is deadline day to get the book to the publisher. The book must be in to the publisher Monday to have it printed by Friday. New Westminster Art's Council has a book fair on Saturday at Royal City Centre (6th Street & 6th Avenue) where I would like to launch the book " The New Westminster Frasers Baseball Club". Book cover copied hopefully everything will be ready for printer.

Rob Arnold was the Frasers only Canadian
Rob Arnold was the only Canadian on the New Westminster Frasers roster. Arnold had been a prospect of the St. Louis Cardinals as a 19 year old.

36 years since the Frasers played
The New Westminster Frasers were an idea in 36 years ago of Dean Taylor and Mike Manning. The buillding of the team then took until June with tryout camps held throughout Southern California and later Oregon.

Outfielder Floyd Beech
New Westminster Frasers outfielder Floyd Beech was the oldd man of the squad at 26. Beech had played for the Chicago Cubs organization in 1970. 1973 Beech was with Portland. I have not been able to locate Floyd Beech.

Getting Bellingham quotes for book
I have been checking the pricing of printing in Bellingham Washington in order to be able to market more in the US. Dean Taylor of the Kansas City Royals
Dean Taylor graduated from Claremont McKenna College (Calif.) in 1973 earning a Bachelor's degree in Economics. Dean Taylor then formed the 1974 expansion New Westminster Frasers. Dean graduated from Ohio University in 1975 with a Master's degree in Sports Administration. Dean was named the 2001 Distinguished Alumnus of the Ohio University Sports Administration Program. Without Taylor's tremendous assistance the work on the Fraser's history would have been very difficult to learn.

John Wojcik the 2nd Fraser Manager
John Wojcik was named the 2nd manager of the New WestminsterFrasers prior to the 1974 season. Wojcik had pitched from 1966-68 then came back with the 1973 Portland Mavericks. Wojcik was only 27 years old when he was named manager of the New Westminster Frasers.

Frosty Kennedy a real character
Frosty Kennedy had been announced as the New Westminster Coach on February 15, 1974 when the nickname Frasers was annnounced. Frosty had a checkered past having signed with Riverside in 1947 then playing only one game as he left the team. Kennedy then returned in 1948 to Riverside playing 139 games hitting .361.

Frosty Kennedy the original Frasers Manager
Frosty Forrest Kennedy was minor league icon. Kennedy is the only minor league player who hit .411 in 1948 and .410 in 1953. Kennedy also hit 60 homer runs in 1956. Thus Kennedy is the only player who hit both over .400 and slugging 60 homers.

Lee Sigman of the New Westminster Frasers
Lee Sigman began playing pro baseball in 1972. Sigman saw a shot time in 1974 with the New Westminster Frasers. In 1978 Lee began managing and in 1981 was manager of the AAA Vancouver Canadians. Sigman managed in Mexico for a few years. The last I could learn Lee was scouting in Mexico for the New York Yankees. I have not been able to contact Lee atlthough I asked the Yankees to help.

Darryl Woods in his college Hall of Fame
Darryl Woods was an outstanding slugging first baseman with Northwestern State University. Standing 6ft 7 in Woods was an imtimidating ballplayer. New Westminster Frasers in need of pitching used Darryl as a pitcher in one game in which he never got to bat.

New Westminster Charles VanSchoyck
Charles VanSchoyck is in the Hall of fame for Azusa Pacific University for his strong college career. VanSchoyck played 70 games for the New Westminster Frasers. 1974 was VanSchoyck`s only professional season. I contact Azusa Pacific and they forwarded my request for Charles to answer my questions but as of yet I have not heard from VanSchoyck.

New Westminter Frasers new manager Greg Werdick
Greg Werdick took over the reins of the New Westminster Fraser part way into the season. Werdick played minor league baseball from 1965 to 1972 in the Chicago Cubs and then the San Diego Padres organizations. 1974 appears to be Werdick`s only year of managing and the end of his professional baseball career.

New Westminster Frasers' Jeff Cox made the Majors
Jeff Cox who played 49 games for both the 1974 Portland Mavericks and the New Westminster Frasers. Cox in 1978 played for the Vancouver Canadians and in 1980 made to the Majors with the Oakland A's. Cox went onto manage in the Minors and in 2000 mid season Felipe Alou brought Cox up to the Montreal Expos as a coach. Since 2007 Cox has been the 3rd base coach of the Chicago White Sox going into 38th year in baseball.

I was an idea of Dean Taylor a 23 year old with his friend Mike Manning who felt that they had the ability to run a baseball franchise. Brooks is a well known thriller author of books such as Darkness Bound and Bait and Switch. Brooks had pitched five years of professional ball. Starting with the California Angels, then the Washington Senators which became the Texas Rangers organizations. Larry`s last pro year was 1974 with the independent New Westminster Frasers and the Portland Mavericks.
