Lee Sigman of the New Westminster Frasers

Lee Sigman began playing pro baseball in 1972.  Sigman saw a shot time in 1974 with the New Westminster Frasers.  In 1978 Lee began managing and in 1981 was manager of the AAA Vancouver CanadiansSigman managed in Mexico for a few years.  The last I could learn Lee was scouting in Mexico for the New York Yankees. I have not been able to contact Lee atlthough I asked the Yankees to help.

The Frasers Shine in Doubleheader

The New Westminster Frasers had an incrediable doubleheader as Brad Rehn the first game pitching a one hitter. But tthen he was out done in the second game by his teammate Sam Basile as he then threw a no-hitter.

Darryl Woods in his college Hall of Fame

Darryl Woods was an outstanding slugging first baseman with Northwestern State University.  Standing 6ft 7 in Woods was an imtimidating ballplayer.  New Westminster Frasers in need of pitching  used Darryl as a pitcher in one game in which he never got to bat.

John Wojcik, George Benson and Larry Brooks were used in a team high 23 games each for the New Westminster Frasers Wojcik was 2W 5Lm, Benson 6W 7 L and Brooks 3W and 4L for the Frasers.

New Westminster Frasers team was about average for the Northwest League

The New Westminster Fraser swere last in hitting with a team batting average of .251 verses League average of .258.  The Frasers pitching was 7th with a 4,74 whislt the League's was 4.08.  Fielding the Frasers were 5th with a team average .942 compared to .946.

Mike Averill's family connection

Mike Averill's grandfather Earl Howard Averill was a Hall of Famer playing 1929-41.  Mike's father Earl Douglas Averill  played from 1956-63.  Mike Averill played the 1974 season with the New Westminster Frasers.
